Notice

Section 114 notice

On 11 March, the Council's Chief Finance Officer issued a report under section 114 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988.

A section 114 report is issued when a local authority's Chief Finance Officer is of the opinion that the authority's expenditure is likely to exceed the resources available to it. On issue, the authority may not enter into new agreements involving expenditure unless authorised by the Chief Finance Officer.

The Council is unable to demonstrate that it can meet its expenditure from the resources available to it in the current financial year. Accordingly, new expenditure is restricted to that required to deliver the Council's statutory functions.
